  1. scotch bright filter is a great idea
  2. I hace a 30 year old HF parts washer that works great. I use diesel fuel
  3. I used a DA sander to remove the remaining paint where l could and a wire wheel dor the rest of the areas. Then I soaked the fenders in molasses for a month. no rust. I cleaned them off with water, used compressed air and the sun to dry them as quickly as possible and sprayed epoxy primer on them. I am happy with the results. I don't know what happened the first time, butl did attach the photos.

  6. On my 36 chevy, where the tar didn't stick, there is rust
  7. I guess there is no easy way. The paper aprt is coming off pretty easy, leaving the tar. I'll use a scraper on it with a propane torch to soften it. Thanks for the feedback
  8. Is there an easier way to remove the pieces of tar paper on the inside of the body than chiseling them??? Thanks Reid
  9. I watched the youtube video on using molasses to remove rust. It does not remove paint. sorry for the misinformation Reid
  10. Yea, I was suprised also that it worked in the cold temperature. I originally had the mixture in the house and it did begin to stink. That's why I put it in the garage. My better half didn't like it. The youtube video I got the idea from said the stink and mold don't affect it - it still works. It also said it will take paint off but it hasn't so far for me. I don't know about chrome. If you have an old rusty kitchen knife I would try it first before I tried it on a chrome wheel. Reid
  11. The rusted washers and bolts sat in the bucket in my unheated garage for the last 3 weeks. The temperature has ranged from 7 to 28 degrees. I brought them in and cleaned them off today. It did remove all the rust on 98% of the washers and bolts. It didn't remove the paint or tar - whatever else was on them. I was suprised the mixture wasn't frozen solid. It was all still liquid - no ice at all.Now that I know it works I will get some type of larger tank or tub to put my fenders etc. in.
  12. hAS ANYONE USED 1 PART MOLASSES 9 PARTS WATER to remove rust? You put your part in the mix for 2-4-weeks and it removes the rust and paint??? You just rinse off with water after. Any thoughts good or bad? I found this on youtube and am trying it in a 5 gallon bucket on rusted bolts and washers.
