  1. HELP! My 68 Riviera 430 intermittently sprays coolant all over the underside of the hood. The system was pressure tested, and it holds pressure, and there are NO leaks. New radiator 10 yrs ago, new hoses, new water pump 10 yrs ago, new fan clutch 15 yrs ago, new radiator cap one month ago. I drove the 12 miles at 60 mph (all down hill -from 6800 ft. to 5200 ft.) to fill the fuel tank. When I entered the gas station it looked like smoke from under the hood. It was coolant that had gotten on the exhaust manifold. The hoses were NOT pressurized and the temp. gauge never went past the half-way mark. Filled the tank, added coolant and drove around town and then home - all up hill from 5200ft. to 6800 ft. Temperature remained normal. Sometimes the coolant is sprayed and sometimes it isn't. Where do I look next??
  2. Steering wheel is a snap. The real task is getting the new switch wiring and connectors threaded through the steering column "casings". Looks like I have to take the whole column apart. Is that correct on a 68 Riv??
  3. Factory manual gives no help in removing and replacing a turn signal switch. Any hints would help.
  4. Jason, Thank you for the reply and information. The current springs have had spacers (rubber or rubber coated) installed in the front coil springs leading me to think they had sagging problems. The rubber on these spacers is disintegrating. Seems reasonable to replace as long as things are apart. (I'm originally from Easton, PA) Bob Tijeras, NM
  5. I'm rebuilding the front suspension on my 68 Riviera GS. Seems like Eaton would be the best supplier for the coils. When I talked with them the springs available were: For Riv. with AC, for Riv. without AC, HD. If the car has HD suspension and is equipped with AC where do I go??????? Original Parts Group also lists: HD, with AC, w/o AC. Their with AC are more expensive than their HD springs. Does this make sense. Have any of you rebuilt the suspension on a 68 Riviera? Can I do it without getting killed by the coils??????????? Thinking of using Kanter's rebuild kit. Any experience with their products???? Bob
  6. Thanks again for the suggestions. I think I have enough of the originals. I'll use a bead of butyl or silicone behind each to make sure they're sealed and will stay in place. 68 is back from paint shop. Looks great.
  7. Thank you for the direction. I checked the online site and came up empty. The clips are 1 1/4" verticle, 1" wide and the bathtub wich plugs into the body is 1/4" x 1/2" positioned horizontally. Think they are nylon. Thanks again. bob Tijeras, NM
  8. Anyone have a lead on nylon molding clips for a 68 Riv? I've had no success in locating any. My car is being repainted and I'd like to reinstall the trim with new clips. None at cars or OPG. None at local suppliers in Albuquerque.
