  1. Hi Chuck, thanks for your kind response, I will email those gents. Even though I am a new member, I wish all you Hupp enthusiasts a Happy New Year ! Tom.
  2. Hi, I am new to the forum, and would like to introduce myself ! My name is Tom Walker, I live in the UK, and am re-building a 1920 Model R, chassis# 46639, which was exported new to New Zealand, and came over to the UK in 1975. I bought the car in 1989, used it for a few years, and started a resoration 2 years ago. I have sorted a few problems, but have come up against one I need help with....the rear axle is adjustable in that the ring and pinion can both be moved "in and out" or "back and forth", by removing the small covers and rotating some kind of nut which has pegs on to allow a lever to be used. My problem is how to know how to adjust the gears ! I am quite capable of feeling for the right degree of lash, but have been unable to make any difference to the lash by adjusting the ring sideways.....I would be very grateful if a knowledgable member could tell me precisely what these pegged rings are doing. If I adjust them towards each other, rather than both in the same direction, am I applying pre-load to the bearings ? A copy of a service bulletin or detail workshop drawing would be of great assistance ! Are there any Model R owners out there who could help ? Yours hopefully, Tom.
