cars that where in the car corral at hershey did ant get sold?

Did any cars in the car corral get sold? I was wondering the way the US dollar is today? Did they stay in the USA or go across the pond?

There was a 1937 Cord 812 Supercharged Phateon in good shape but probably needing restoration that had 129,900 I think on the windshield on Thursday and on friday had Sold with the comment staying in Pennsylvania written next to it.
I think I saw 5 or 6 cars with sold on them on friday that were for Sale on Thursday but have no idea where they were heading.
I do know the 47 or 48 chrysler town and country woody convertible sold to a guy in buffalo NY I think.

Re: cars that where in the car corral at hershey did ant get sold?

I took the 1963 split window coupe Corvette to the car corral, lots of interest, didn't sell Thursday, went back Friday and it sold about 3pm that afternoon real close to asking price.

There were a smattering of cars marked sold, but no rhyme or reason to it, just one's that obviously someone wanted and made a deal.

In my opinion some asking prices were unrealistic. I think that going to Hershey people always add a little extra to asking price, but some prices were literally twice or more what car would reasonably bring in a sale.

    Great weather though!!

The '48 T&C went to a friend of mine from Maryland. We were supposed to be offering a '32 Packard Limo in solid original condition, lots of surface rust, no interior and needing total restoration but it sold the Monday of Hershey week for far more than I thought it would bring. The green Jag 120 Roadster also sold. Project cars seem to be selling again with many going over the pond. We definitely had more inquiries about work than we had last year.

    Jeff,
That 48 Cadillac you had at your space was quite impressive! Thanks for the "drop off" service on my convertible top bow. The Caddy screamed "Nice Work". Matt

I had a friend suggest that the high asking price on some were because the owner was looking for a cheap place to park.

At the cost of a car corral space (think it was $125) it's not really a "cheap place to park".

I think high asking prices are either expectations that exceed reality, or the hope that someone with lots of money (or a good Euro exchange rate) just HAS TO HAVE that particular car.

As I was walking to the show Saturday, I passed a Mercedes convertible of the '60's with a six figure price tag that made me smile. Those cars bring good money, but not the quarter of a million or so posted on windshield.

Had my '68 Mustang GT/CS (California Special) in the Car Corral. Was there Wed, Thu, Fri. Lots of interest. Sold it Friday pm to a man who's taking it back to the Netherlands. First time I've used the Car Corral, would definitely do it again.

Was the green Chevelle with $89,000.00 and SOLD on the window a joke or an actual sale, if so WHY? Bob

That Plymouth Savoy was something like a '57 or so. It had $1500 then it was crossed out. I walked up and asked the guy if he bought it, as he was going thru the front seat/glove box. He said "yes". I said "well you got a helluva deal then" and he said "WHAT?" as if he didn't understand me. Then he showed me it had lots of spare parts in the trunk. Then he spoke what I suppose was Swedish to a guy near him and I made out it was going overseas. The car was a driver quality for sure, needing chrome and paint work at least a little TLC but for $1500 I think it was THE STEAL of the corral.
