And what's with the elephant on the off-ramp hill?

Re: 1967 Opel Ad
Opels were officially imported into the UK for the first time since 1938 Model Year by June 1967 by General Motors Limited in London. This was the writing on the wall for Vauxhall (Vauxhall Motors Ltd of Luton and Ellesmere Port, near Liverpool)..GM wanted to get rid of the anachronism that was the Griffin-badged product with its associated rusting and terrible quality. By 1974 all Vauxhall-badged exports had ceased.
GM-Holden's in Australia though went from strength-to-strength in the export market with Holdens badged as Chevrolets taking over from Canadian Chevies and Pontiacs in the right-hand drive market, especially South Africa.
Although Vauxhall's badge is still used in the UK only, any exports to Ireland are Opel-badged, and any lhd exports likewise.
