Hershey finds

Ok-show and tell time. What did you find at hershey???
Here are a few of mine:
First is a porcelain statue done by an Italian artist named Pucci. I'd like some info on this piece - suspect it was done in the 50's or 60's but it is fabulous quality. I'd seen it before but never had the chance to acquire one until Hershey this year. Second item is an early German bisque figurine. Several versions of this in both large and small sizes were produced circa 1900s. The next item is an original Montaut print and last item is a wonderful paper print made to be cut out and assembled into a toy car. Judging from the images, it dates to the early 1900s. It is in perfect condition. Also found some nice early spark plugs, some teens Ford Times magazines and some early accessory catalogs. Sue found a neat MG advertising piece we'll share later.

Re: Hershey finds

Saw an old clarinet in a case. The parts matched, it was wood and the vendor did not want to take it home. I did. Turns out it was an Orfeo Borgani, an Italian instrument. Rebuilt it and played it last Tuesday night. Sounds and plays so great I might start using it all the time. My little souvenier from Hershey 09.

Re: Hershey finds

I bought a few antique toys ranging in size from 2.5 inches to Tonka-truck size. Within 15 minutes or so of buying each, I gave them away to friends.

The Tonka truck-sized vehicle (can't remember the brand) was a dump truck. I stopped at a friend's booth, put the truck down on the ground, and sat down and talked with a very nice young lady (26), who was so excited (and a little nervous) that she'd be showing her very own vehicle in Saturday's car show (she ended up getting her First Junior). She asked if I had bought anything in the flea market, and I pointed to the neat old dump truck. She absolutely flipped over it and thought it was very, very cool. As I got up to continue on my way, I picked up the truck and gave it to her.

It gave me more pleasure to see her joy and surprise than to place the truck on my own shelf.

Re: Hershey finds

What era does the Olds sign date to? I'm guessing 30s or earlier?

Re: Hershey finds

Terry,

If I were you, I'd make a really good color copy on 100lb. brochure paper (thus saving the original) of that cut-out , frame it, and hang it. It'd be on my wall in a New York minute!

Beautiful, I just love it.

Steve,

I know you're thrilled with your new sign...who wouldn't be?!

Re: Hershey finds

It would be neat to reproduce something like that and give it to kids at AACA meets.

Re: Hershey finds

Great point, West. This kid will be the first in line...

But I won't have to sit Santa's lap, I hope.
