Not to tough to change really. The good thing is that red is the most common color overall, so finding a usable red fender shouldn't be difficult. Pinstripe color may be an issue. Most red cars had a tan interior and thus have tan pinstripe, but red over gray was an somewhat common combo, so make sure you specify if you are going to buy a fender.
In any case, I'd have to think one can be had for less than repairing and repainting the existing fender. Probably over $600 to do the latter (body and paint work). I also have reservations about repairing plastic body panels.
