Found this Pontiac cap buried under a collapsed chicken coop. Note that the Chiefs face is copper plated and the rest of the cap is chromed.
Can anyone help me ID this hood ornament?
I've been told it from the late 20's possibly an ornament from a Brewster.
I havent been able to find anything similar to it.
Any help is appreciated.

I think you've got the age about right, but I believe it is an accessory item. I've seen many similar winged caps that hold motometers, and several with other kinds of "tops" on them, like special emblems or other kinds of flip-up tops. Here is a pic of a 1915 Brewster showing a winged cap with a motometer on it. Brewster made their own cars for just a short time but their custom bodies appeared a lot later on many different chassis.

Wayne...BEAUTIFUL shot of a 1931 Buick cap!
The one pictured by Johns36, I also believe is an aftermarket.
I collect caps from the late 1920s to the mid 1930s. I only have about 80, mostly American makes, but I do have a few from around the world as well.
Most caps in the early 20s were moto-meters. By the mid 20s, they started putting mascots on them. The inside base was threaded, and they screwed on. By 1930, the "twist lock" was the method used to fasten them. By the mid 30s, most caps went below the hood into the engine compartment, so the mascots became "hood ornaments" rather than actual radiator caps.

I got a few good ones at Hershey, but I have a problem with the SD card in my camera and can't upload some of the pictures, especially the Rickenbacker ornament.
Finally uploaded more of my photos. This Rickenbacker ornament would be a great collector item.
