New Member Looking for a 65
Hello everyone. I just recently sold my Factory Five Shelby Cobra Replica which I built from the ground up. It was a fun project and car, which I enjoyed for a bit over 5 years. Here's a pic.

Now, I'm on the hunt for a 65 Riviera. I have always admired these cars, so now it is time to start searching for one. I just joined the Riv Owners Group, and have begun my research.
I have looked at a couple of cars, one local, and all have been junk so far.
Is it even possible to find a modest priced, non rusted, clean 65 Riviera these days? Most I've seen have had a good deal of rust.
Can you guys tell me where is the best place, or places to try and find me a 65? Do any of the member here know of a nice one available for sale.
I'd sort of like to find a GS with the Dual Quad Super Wildcat motor, but I'd settle for a nice 401 car. It must be an AC car.
I'm not in a major hurry, so I'm willing to wait for a nice one.
Any and all advice is appreciated.
Thanks, and I'm sure I'll have more questions to follow.
Rob.

Re: New Member Looking for a 65
Rob,
Welcome to the Board. Yes there are many clean straight unrusted 65s out there. Both Gs and non-GS.
You may want to consider joining ROA. This will help educate you on the 65 and there are classifieds in the bi-monthly magazine from members and non-members alike. There are technical advisors just a phone call away and info provided by them can save you a lot of money when looking to buy a Riv partly due to some parts are difficult or expensive to come by so you'll want to know that up front.
You may need to expand your search to the whole continental US specifically the arid climate states for a rust free car. If you buy a GS, be careful and make sure you get all the facts to insure the car is legitimate.
Good Luck

Re: New Member Looking for a 65
Thanks for the replies so far. Yes, I did join the ROA. I have no problems in buying a car out of state, and certainly would much prefer to buy one from the arid climate area's of the US. My price range will vary widely, depending on the condition of the car, it's color and options, ect. I figure the most I'm willing to go for the right car would be in the high teen's. This would be for a car that is ready to get in and drive, and needs none to very minimal work. I don't mind a car that needs work, I just want to stay away from the clique "rust bucket" cars. Obviously for a car that needs work, my price would drop. I do want to stay with a stock car, and am not interested in the "tricked out" ones we commonly see.
Thanks,
Rob.

Ed has turned several of us on to this website. Gathers all Craigslist, ebay, and HMN adds with a few others and puts them together in one listing. If you are willing to look nation wide, you might try this.
site mash : buick riviera : combined classified and auction listings++++
Sorry, Ed, if I stole your thunder, but I really like this site.

Rob,
Check the classifieds on the ROA's website. You can access the open list and the "members only" list. I saw quite a few on there a couple of days ago, in various stages of restoration and price ranges.
Not my thunder to steal Steve.
