Re: WHAT ARE THESE FOR

Sidemounted spare tire covers around the early 30s. If they were for rear spare, they would not have the notched out areas on the bottoms.

I'd like a set for my 32 Nash if you are selling? I need to measure my wells first.

Re: WHAT ARE THESE FOR

I KNOW THEY ARE SIDE MOUNT SPARE TIRE COVERS I JUST DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WOULD FIT. I PICKED THEM UP FOR MY CAR BUT THEY ARE TOO BIG. I WOULD SELL THEM FOR WHAT I HAVE INVESTED IN THEM.

Re: WHAT ARE THESE FOR

I have been trying to i.d. those. That odd detail where the chrome or stainless ring on the innermost circle is the clue, but so far have not seen any like them. Seems like 90% of them have the trim on the center of the face and on the outer rim. Yours look to be early/mid 30's. Not Chrysler product or GM, I believe. Are they "notched" or "trimmed in" at the bottom?

Re: WHAT ARE THESE FOR

Keiser is correct that most have the stainless ring out at the mid part, rather than at the opening.

I just measured my wells at 7" wide. My tire is about 30-1/2". I don't have the new tires mounted yet to see if they are same dia inflated/mounted.

Rich, what was your tire size/wheel rim size, and were they too big for your fenders or just looked too big?

Re: WHAT ARE THESE FOR

MY TIRE SIZE IS 5.25/5.50 X 18 THE COVERS FIT THE WHEELWELL BUT WHEN THE TIRE SITS IN THEM THEY SIT BELOW THE CENTER HOLE. THEY ARE NOTCHED AT THE BOTTOM

Re: WHAT ARE THESE FOR

They sound like they might fit the 6.00/650X20 tires I had on a "26 Chrysler sedan. You can call a place like Universal out of Hershey, PA and they should be able to give you tire outside dimensions.

Re: WHAT ARE THESE FOR

After looking at a lot of car brands and years, most show a center opening that hides all of the tire side and stops exactly right at the rim outer edge.

If that is true, then a 18.5" opening would stop at the outer edge of a 17" wheel. It would not be a small tire like 33/34 Ford (525/17?), or other entry level priced cars. Must be for a mid sized car around 33/34 in my opinion...based on pics, not facts

Still a nice find, in a matching pair. My car is the 525-550-18, so they won't work for me.
