It's for a 292 or 312 motor.
I haven't seen one with the tube coming out, is that "normal" for a Ford?

The Y block use the tude to go to the oil pump. It's one of the odd things Ford did.
I think Ford did it to help cool the oil.
so this is for the 55-57 Tbird then? (as well as others?)

yes, they where on the Tbirds. Most like a 312.
the two seater t'birds used a rear sump oil pan as did most trucks account of cross member location. the t'bird pan has the drain plug in center rear mounted at an angle just at rear of deep sump. the t'bird pans are wprth 2-3 hundred. the trucks a lot less. your pan is for trucks, although it will "fit" on a t'bird, it is not "correct". passenger cars had the sump in front, they all will bolt up to 272-292-312 blocks with correct tube along side of pan. thanks!!
