Winter events - Elliott Museum show, Stuart, FL
Steve from Stony Creek, Connecticut checking in "on location" from sunny Florida. My family and I were fortunate to attend the antique auto show this past Sunday (2/25) at the Elliott Museum, and had a wonderful time. I noticed several Indian River Region AACA name tags on various people there (in fact that's how I heard about it--having read about the event in the Indian River newsletter--I'm a recent new member). The cars were awesome, and the people were super-friendly. One couple let my two little kids climb into their '35 Ford's rumble seat for photos, and another person went to great lengths to tell us all about the amazing 1912 Buick that's been in their family *since new!* Had a great time, and not looking forward to the trip back to the cold Northeast!
Steve Mierz
Stony Creek, CT

Re: Winter events - Elliott Museum show, Stuart, FL
I have been to the Elliott Museum, but not the show, on Hutchinson Island, and I can tell us that they have about 20 interesting cars and a lot of items about the history of South Florida, along with many turn of the last century items. They also have lost of items from the Elliott family, they are from Mass. and the father and son were inventors of addressing equipment, mail processing and envelope closing machines. They have over 100 US & forign patents between them. The museum is east of Stuart, on Hutchinson Island about 1 hour north & east of West Palm Beach. Take I-95 to Route 76 Kanner Hwy and follow the signs to the Ocean Beachs, it is past Sewels Point and just past Indian River Plantation, a big resort. Email me for exact directions. SalG

Re: Winter events - Elliott Museum show, Stuart, FL
I've been to the Elliott Museum before also Sal. This was the first car show I've attended there, however. The museum was open and people who paid admission to the show--which was outdoors on the lawn surrounding the museum--also rec'd museum admission. I guess the museum itself organized the show, and it was very low-key and no judging, I believe--just a good day to get the cars out & enjoy the day. We had a great time and really appreciated the friendly hospitality of all those involved.
Steve Mierz
Stony Creek, CT
