| Re: What is this Cadillac motor?? It's not a Cadillac Cadillac, it's a Cadillac Lasalle as it says. It was the companion car to Cadillac. Similar body (exactly the same sometimes) and this one came with an Oldsmobile engine (several years they came with a Cadillac engine). Eventually they figured out it wasn't bringing people up to this price range, it was stealing calls from Cadillac itself. Unlike Pontiac (the companion car) which replaced it's parent the LaSalle was dropped. Too bad really because it had some real great styling most years and was a very good auto.
