Take spark plugs out shoot PB Blaster or other rust penetrating oil in cylinders let sit for a day or two try to crank again with plugs out if it still won't crank repete above.
    good luck

You might also fill the cyls. with atf. Let sit a day or so and then try to turn the crank, first one way and then the outher.

    Re: turning over engine

I had same problem yr. ago and this was the advice I got.
Get Marvel Mystery Oil and fill a squirt can (oil can), Pull plug and squirt it into cyl.Try and get some all around. Replace plug loosely and let sit couple days. Try and turn it over. If it will move go 1/4 turn and repeat. In a wk or so you should be able to turn it over.
I had to do this to tractor that sat outside and hadn't been run for 5 yrs. It worked well for me. Just remember to change oil before trying to run. Good luck.

    Re: turning over engine

I hope it is in neutral? If the trans is in gear it will take a strong man to crank it any at all.

Also if the engine is stuck, besides the piston rings the valve lifters can get rusted and stuck and if someone suggests pushing the car in gear to free the engine up it is pretty certain to eat a few teeth off the cam timing gear.

I'd open the lifter gallery covers and look for signs of rusted lifters and valve stems and saturate every thing inside with penetrating oil followed with 10W engine oil that will wick into where the penetrating oil found its way.

Take off the valve cover,,,whack the valve end of rockers w/hammar [lead or brass preferd,,]don't dent em,,,IF the valve is free,,,it will bounce,,thud is stuck,,,pry em loose,,,separate topic,,,,,,NOW for oils,,,atf,,kerosene,#10 wt,,,,ALL too thick,,,Ya want something w/verry little film strength,,,,P-B blaster,,and liquid wrench are preferd,,,Put car in hi gear and rock back and forth,,,and it should free up, also check,if it is a shaft drive water pump or generator,,,see that they are free,,, ,,/// take 2 an' call in the morning,,,smiles,,Ben

Make sure that the transmition is in nuteral and have someone depress the clutch pedal and then try to crank it.

I had a 38 buick with a frozen up tansmition that prevented the engine from turning over.
