Help needed with identifcation of old truck 20's or 30's

I have posted a couple photos of an old Game and Fish fish stocking truck used by the Colorado Game and Fish Commission in the 20's or 30's. Can anyone help me identify it? I posted 2 photos in the photo area. See the attached photo.

That truck started life as a touring car, and had the rear section of the body removed. My guess is that it is a Buick from around 1925-26.

I agree. This appears to be a mid-20's Buick touring car.

I agree with the suggestion that this is a converted passenger car... factory pick-up trucks really didn't come into their own until abour 1928 or so, and most were four-cylinder rigs, like the Ford "T" or "A" and the Chevrolet.

The hood on this vehicle looks like it's housing a six.... I was going to guess possibly Willys-Knight ?(Can't make out the stamping on the hubcaps)

The nickeled radiator shell and the drum headlights suggest '25-'26... many makers went to bowl-shaped headlights in '27-'28.

Can you just imagine taking that rig up a gravel at best road in the mountains with 75 or 100 gallons of water and fish in back? The scenery would have been great but the down hill part would be exciting. Stude8

Thanks to all. This will be very helpful. I'm trying to find a similar vehicle so we can recreate this one for use in parades. John

My guess is that early Colorado game and fish folks didn't do a lot of offroading with this rig. This one was probably for easy access streamside stocking. Most of the backcountry work was done on foot or from horseback. However, if the folks back then were at least as energetic as some of the ones in recent times.....WOW....what a ride!!

    HELLO,

I WAS WONDERING IF YOU MIGHT HAVE EVER SEEN OR HEARD OF SUCH A TRUCK.
AFTER NUMEROUS EMAILS TO BUICK THEY ADVISE ME THAT IT WAS #10 OF UNKNOWN FROM
THE PICTURES OF THE FIREWALL PLATE. I HAVE GIVING THEM THE VIN# AND PICTURES
OF IT BUT THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF IT. THEY SAY FROM ALL THE DOCUMENTATION ON IT
THAT I GAVE THEM THAT THEY MUST HAVE MADE A TRUCK WHICH WAS PROBABLY A PROTO TYPE AND JUST NEVER MADE PRODUCTION AND THAT IN ALL THE RECORDS THEY HAVE THERE
WAS NEVER A TRUCK PRODUCED BACK IN 1928 OR ANYTIME AFTER THAT. IT HAS AN INLINE 6 CYCLINDER 3 SPEED TRANS AND THE CARB ON IT HAS STAMPED 1918 THE ORIGINAL
OWNER WORKED FOR BUICK FROM 1926 TO 1934 AND THEN AGAIN LATER IN LIFE. I WAS
TOLD BY ONE OF HIS GRAND CHILD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS HIS PRIDE AND JOY. HE LEFT IT TO HIM IN HIS WILL AND THE PERSON I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM WAS TO OLD TO DO ANYTHING WITH IT SO HE SOLD IT TO ME. JUST LOOKING FOR ANSWERS AND SORRY
TO BUG YOU ABOUT THIS BUT I ADVERTISED IT AND HAVE HAD SEVERAL BUICK COLLECTORS HAVE OFFERED ME IN THE UPWORDS OF $30,000 FOR IT AND WAS JUST WONDERING ABOUT IT. IS THERE ANOTHER WEBSITE TO GET MORE INFO ON THIS TRUCK? IT NEEDS TO BE RESTORED AND I HAVE STARTED ON THAT PROCESS ALREADY. IT WILL BE PUT BACK TO STOCK CONDITION AND I WOULD LIKE TO HOLD ON TO IT IF TRUELY ONE OF A KIND OR EVEN ONE OF TEN FOR THAT MATTER. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME GUYS AND GALS. NOSTURTLE,

This is definately something you'd want to take up with the technical advisors at the Buick Club of America. If you click on the link I just posted in the last sentence you'll get their list of advisors. The 1924-1929 advisor is a man by the name of Lind Coop out of Whitier, CA. His address and other contact information is on that linked page.

Also you shold post this request for information on the Buick Club of America General Forum (part of this forum). There you'll be in contact with more Buick specialists.
