    Fascinating Info about Hydra-Matic History...

    Hello Everyone:

A Google search on Hydra-matic brought me to this page: http://ateupwithmotor.com/component/...ticle/246.html

It's a very fascinating history of the development of the automatic transmission at GM. Other industry related information rounds out the read. It will take you through: (early sliding gears, synchro-mesh, preselector, The Roller, AST & all the permutations of Hydra-Matic). The other division's automatics are also explored.

Be sure to 'take' all the links and poke around the site too.

    What amazing engineers...!

    Enjoy...

Paul, thanks for the early history. Will there be future articles on Dual Coupling and Roto Hydramatic??

    Don:

That link is actually at the bottom of page 4 in the first article. It took me awhile to see it...

    It takes you here: http://ateupwithmotor.com/technology...ry-part-2.html

Part 2 is even more fascinating & full of information about: Torque Converter Drive, Dynaflow, Powerglide, Controlled Coupling H-M, 2T & 3T, Turboglide and the infamous Roto H-M. It just gets better & better. It's nice that the author doesn't focus just on the technology, real world front office & politics are also discussed.
