Hate to need to ask, but what kind of car is it?

The dang pole is in the way for me to identify it.

Looks like a Tempest/Lemans to me, David. Very similar to your Nova's, except newer. It also has an aftermarket "wing" and wheels. I wonder? Does that wing make it go faster, Jim? Wayne

Yes, its a Pontiac GT-37. Just like the lemans but with more options. The wing is a factory/dealer installed option along with the hood tach and hood pins. The wheels are... well... awaiting replacement. I have the original honeycombs, but they need tires, and I need $$$ first.

I was thinking it was along that lines but not sure. And Wayne, no they aren't anything like "MY" Novas. Maybe like the later ones, but not the early "box" Chevy II.

At any rate, glad to see him out enjoying it. I got my '63 4dr out yesterday afternoon for a little trip around town. Was out for about ten minutes an never more than about 1.5 miles from the garage. Just zigzaging through the streets of town. Had serveral people look as I went by.

I didn't realize the "winged ones" had a different name. I thought they were still a Lemans. Just had an optional factory wing.

I learned something new today .

I take it that the car would be one step down from the GTO of that vintage?

Yes, essentialy its glorified lemans. Sort of a tempest if you will. They were built from 70-71 1/2. They also built a lesser model called the T-37. The GT-37 base model was a 350 v8 2bbl, 3 speed manual on the floor, eyebrow striping, ralley II's, hood pins, non carpeted plain jane door slammer. Options include, carpet, muncie transmissions, 400cid, 455cid 455cidHO, hood tach, rear spoiler and on and on and on....

You could also order the car with the T-41 nose option called endura. Its the rubber type bumper like the GTO.

All in all... im just happy that it runs and drives now. Bringing it back to original will take time, but im learning.

Sorry, no pic, but I drove my recently resurrected 1960 Windsor to work today !

    Woo-Hoo !

Nothing like gliding down the highway with a Chrysler big-block up front, and two huge Exner fins trailing behind!

Diz- its the 455 with the Muncie M-21. But on those old tires, they do more then chirp!

The wheels are finished and ready, I picked up the correct honeycomb trim rings and center caps, all I need is the rubber. Next week, after I done playing boy scout leader this weekend.

Are you going to have the car judged or just drive it?

Very nice car and few and far between. Years ago my friend owned a T-37 and it was awesome, to bad he beat it to death then junked it. I have never seen a GT-37. I wonder how many were build and now exist with the T-41 nose option?

I stand corrected on the wing. I remember that model, but not the wing. Novaman, I assume then that Pontiac didn't share the Nova platform? I barely remember the Nova's coming out, but then I was into Chevelles by that time. Wayne

Wayne, from 1962 thru 1967 I believe there was nothing that shared the X body (Chevy II) platform. When they switched to the third bodystyle in 1968 the Pontiac Ventura and a Buick version came out, sharing the platform. Not sure what years for those two. I'm not sure if Olds had a version or not. I can't find my book right now that infromation in it. I'll let you know for sure whne I find it. Yesterday was the first time in three weeks I've seen the top of my desk, and I can now move my chair back some too.

The most striking thing in the photo is how "bla" the other clone cars look. Sure in the 70s we might have said the same thing when your car was newer but the Pontiac wasn't unusual, until now. Goes to show how a car that's not really old can shine and stand out. Keep driving it!

Doesn't the sign in front of the Pontiac say "reserved for fast Eddie"? It kind of looks like where Eddie works, ahhhhh plays.

Re: Drive your classic to work day...

Well, I was wondering if anyone would notice the parking lot (plaza) it was sitting in. Fast Eddie has a spot at the other end closer to his Harrisburg office.

As for judging the car... Nah... its not really judge worthy. To many things wrong with the car. Its a great 20 footer, nothing has been done to the body of the car since I got it 13 years ago to drive it to school. And since then it has got the usual abuse of door dings, falling broom handles, and the like. However, everytime I work on a particular part of the car, I try to return it to a factory condition.

As for the number of cars produced with the T-41 nose job... I know there were 5,802 GT-37s produced in 1971, and I think less then 500 got the endura option. I have one for it sitting in my garage, but cant bring myself to it. I have heard rumors that less the 200 recieved the 455HO option. Now that would be a car to have...
