#1 | | Guest | Am I eligible to join AACA? What would be the benefits for myself and my vehicles? I have a 1923 Ford T-Bucket kit car I am assembling, I'm building my own Harley Davidson based chopper, I have a 1962 MG Magnette that is undergoing a complete tire up restoration that has a 4 year timetable to completion, and a 1959 Mercedes Benz 200 sedan that is also undergoing restoration. The Benz has a 7 year timetable to completion due to extensive rust and scarcity of parts. I'm looking for a club where I can go to meets and talk to people that have interests in all my cars. When I go to MBCA meets everyone asks how the 200 is coming along but are indifferent to my MG. When I go to a HOG meet anything with 4 wheels is uninteresting but they seem to have a great interest in whether I chose a 21 inch rear wheel for my chopper. I just like cars. I won't quit my membership in any of the other clubs but I would like to add a club where everything I'm pouring myself into is accepted. It seems like these cars and bikes take on a life of their own after countless late nights of sanding and cleaning and fabricating. I think it would be great after they're all done and put together I could line all 4 of my projects up side by side on the showfield. I want a club that has interests as diverse as mine. Hot rodder, biker, and restorer. That's me. It just depends on what I feel like doing in my free time. After reading through some of the posts on this forum it seems like there is a great group of people here who like anything automotive. At least that's the impression I got. Prove me right!

| Re: Am I eligible to join AACA? WELCOME to the forum! You and I would get along just fine, but most AACA members would try to drive a stake through your hart if you mention Hot Rods.I think you'd have just as much fun on the forum as you would have as a card carring member, nothng in the club magazine would cover the vehicles you mentioned. The internet is the "Car & Bike" club of the future. I like to see people with interests in diffrent parts of the hobby. I just got back from the Goodguys meet in Rhinebeck, N.Y., went to an Antique Motorcycle Club of America meet in the spring, will be at Hershey next month. If it was made before 1940 I like it. My favorite aircaft from WWII are the B-17's & P-51 Mustangs. |

| Re: Am I eligible to join AACA? I will second this with a big welcome and hello! Check the list of participating clubs on the main index of this page. I am a member of the CCCA and the CLC (also the OCA) along with a group in Houston. I would think a local Old Car Club would be the best venue for you. The local groups here in Colorado have all kinds of cars....hot rods, classics, antiques and popular interest vehicles and motorcycles. National and international clubs are great resources and wonderful places for making friends, but nothing beats the local car nuts for just having fun.
You are always welcome in the AACA, CCCA, or any of the others whether you own a car covered in their bylaws or not. I am glad to make your acquaintance!
Regards,
Randy - Longmont, Colorado

| Re: Am I eligible to join AACA? Welcome carnut. I am considered one of the bad guys at times. I need the company. You don't even have to own an antique automobile to belong to the AACA. Just getting a chance to meet some of the "characters" in our hobby is worth joining our little group. Wayne |

#6 | | Guest | Re: Am I eligible to join AACA? I scrolled down a bit and read about the whole category 37 hot rod deal. Personally I'd rather use a kit to build a hot rod any day. On a new glass bodied and steel framed hot rod you don't have to fight the factory. Things like Mustang II IFS and 4 link 9 inch rear axles are already incorporated. You don't have to cut apart a 70 year old frame and try to make it all work. You get a clean sheet to put in gauges, stereo, what ever you want. If you really want a steel bodied ride steel kits are available too. At a premium price. It seems to me this club leans American. I like my cars to have a funny accent. However I'd like to go to a AACA meet and see what's going on. What's coming up in the north Texas region in the next few months? I'll be heading north to Chickasha Oklahoma for the Grady County Fairgrounds swap meet on October 18. If anyone is interested in going let me know. We can meet at the Denny's for breakfast or something. For those of you who are Texas challenged north Texas is by the Red River. That part above us is called the Panhandle.

| Re: Am I eligible to join AACA? Europeancarnut, I just reread your first post, afer reading your second. With the ID you picked I thought you were IN Europe, and that is why I thought AACA memberhip would not be a wise investment. I stand corrected, if you have an interst in stone stock 25 year old cars AACA may be for you. |
