2 Dr. Post Coupe and 2 Dr. Hardtop

What is the difference between a 2 Dr. Post Coupe(Sedan) and 2 Dr. Hardtop? I inherited a 1966 Buick Skylark GS and its in dire need of restoration.

The hardtop will have no post between the front side window & rear side window.

The only post on the car is attached to the rear window and goes up and down when you roll the glass. Is it still considered a "post coupe?"

No. You have a 2 door hardtop. If you wind all the windows down and can run your hand along the door tops from the vent window in the front door to the rear window ("C") pillar, you have a "hardtop".

(Originally this was shorthand for the term "hardtop convertible". The body style was developed to resemble a convertible with the top up.)

A "2 door post coupe" is just a different way of describing a 2 door sedan for cars in the 1960's. If you had one of these you could wind down the frond door window with the door open and there would still be a frame for the window sticking out above the door. That frame and the ("B") pillar behind it keeps you from running your hand to the back window along the door tops (as I described) in a "post coupe".

Here's a good rule of thumb on desire-ability and value. After convertibles, 2-door HT, then it's 4-door HT and then it goes to 2-door sedan and 4-door sedan.
