    28 Essex Speedometer guts

I am trying to fix the speedometer on my 1928 Essex. I have it all apart except the (and I don't know the part names here) the drive shaft .It's magnetic disc, maybe
1 1/2" round (that the actual MPH numbers sit on) attached to a small gear through the housing.
This is where the problem is and I can't get it apart.
If this makes any sense to you could you write me to help?
    thanks, Larry
