cowl/hood lacing

Hello again,
I know what the "lacing" does and I knew that my car didn't have any, so I bought a kit from Bob's to replace the lacing on my car.
What I received was the hardware to hold it down (some clips and screws) as well as a long piece of rigid wire and some cloth loom. My question now is: where and how do I install this stuff?
My Fischer body manual only makes passing reference to the lacing, saying that it is on the cowl and needs to be oiled periodically. Not much help for install.
I can see the groove and associated holes for the mounting hardware on my cowl; My question is how to actually attach this stuff. do I lay down the loom/cloth component, then wire over that and clamp it all down with the hardware? Also, does it go anywhere besides the cowl?
I know this must seem like a silly set of questions, but since my car was bought in pieces I have nothing to compare with.
Thanks!
