1938 olds gas tank

I need a gas tank for a 1938 olds 4 door 6 cylinder. Does anyone know where to get one? IS A CHEVY GAS TANK THE SAME YEAR (INTERCHANGABLE)? SOMEONE ON THE BUICK SITE SAID THAT THE 38 BUICK CAN use a 1962-63 chevy impala ( direct replacement) Is that true? If anyone has any information or source for a replacement 1938 olds? PLEASE HELP?

I just noticed there are at least two companies with ads in Street Rodder that sell new reproduction gas tanks for Fords and Chevy. I suspect you could take a few measurements and call them and get a quick answer.

According to an article in the old Torque Tube magazine a tank from a '72 is a pretty good fit for a '37-38 Buick, I would assume it might also fit the same vintage Olds.

bobj49f2 out of which 72" car ? buick? chevy? I would like to read that article in old torque magazine. do you know which month it was in so I can cll and get a coppy from them? Thanks for the information...

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I didn't list the car. The article mentioned the '72 Nova.



It would take a little reconfiguring of the fill tube, as suggested in the article. There are also places that sell custom tanks for about 3X the money. If you can to the mods yourself it could be worth finding a used Nova tank or buying a new one for around $200. If you have someone else do it, it would probably be the same price to have one made.

You could contact these guys. I know a person who had them build him tank for his '37 Buick coupe.
