1931 model 67 need help

Hi , I am new member.

I have found a 1931 buick model 67 it is currently sitting out doors. It must have been indoors at some point because the wood is not entirely gone. What I want to know is what is this car worth. The wood is mostly rotten but there the cab is starting to fall apart. the doors are still together. the doors are missing the handles for the windows as well as the door handles the engine is an eight cylinder and appears entirely complete, however a couple of the spark plugs are missing. All six wire wheels are present . rad looks good. gas tank has a hole in it, also the diffentail has hole, floor is rotten and all fabric is long gone

Does anyone know are there rebuild kits for the wood, engine?

Is there plans for the wood?

Thanks in advance for any and all help

Hello. You really need to be careful I think best case on an engine rebuild will be $5000.00. If wood is gone there are body manuals that help you out with design. I would look at the price of a running car before I would purchase. Good luck

Buickfarmer,

There are no wood kits for these Buicks. You have to copy the wood that you have in the car of look at another car to get measurements.

You did not mention the tail light, if it has side mounts, and if the headlights and gauges are there. What about hubcaps for the wire wheels?

With parts missing and not running, I would say around $750. to $1,000.00.

The head lights are there but have no glass in them.

Tail lights no there.

Hub caps can't say that I saw them Probably missing, but possibly in the car it was right full of pieces and I couldn't see everything.

If this is a poor car for rebuild where do I look for a better one? I really like the vintage with the wheels on the fenders.

Thanks for you thoughts so far.

Buckfarmer,

Good place to look is in the Buy/Sell section of this forum and the general AACA Buy/Sell forum. Look at A LOT OF CARS before you make a purchase. If you find one you think you like, take a person with a car of that vintage with you to look at it. He or she will be able to ball-park prices for you and keep your feet on the ground.

The current economic conditions are causing a lot of good bargins out there, especially in the 20's and 30's cars.

It sounds like you are not going to buy the 31-67. Might it be available for parts?

Dwight

It may be a good parts car, but it will cost much more to restore it than it's value when finished.

I agree with the last comment... If this is your first attempt... I suggest you look for something more complete.... perhaps complete and running.. I have 2 cars one is restored (1934) and another where I am replacing every stick of wood (1919)... it is what I like and I have a car to drive and it is my second restoration so I don`t get discouraged... it is my passion not a money making deal... GOOD LUCK

Re: 1931 model 67 need help

Have you got somewhere to store the car?

From your description it is not a restorable proposition, maybe it it were a roadster or phaeton but not a sedan.

But from your description it does have desirable parts such as twin side-mount fenders, 6 wire wheels, good radiator ( surround? ) and will provide a good source of many mechanical spares.

Freds suggestion of $500 to $1000 is right on the money, especially if you have storage.

After securing your spares and desirable options you can then go looking for a similar vehicle which is restorable. The price will always be cheaper if the vehicle doesn't have sidemounts and there are others with mechanical problems which could be resolved with your spare parts cache.

If the worst comes to the worst you would always get more than your money back by parting out the vehicle and helping other restorers at the same time.

Thanks everyone. I am trying to make a deal on the car. However it is difficult as the current owner is not a motivated seller. He may prefer to just watch the car rust. I will let you all know if I manage to buy the car.
