Re: Stuck

Hi,
After loosening or removing the distributor hold down clamp and cleaning around the base where it enters the block, spray a good penetrating oil like PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench around it, and try tapping on the very bottom of the distributor base at the block. It may take a while for the penetrating oil to work, but it should loosen up where you can turn it after a bit. Try taking the dist. cap off and put a oil filter wrench on the base below where the dist. cap sets and moving it that way. Keep us posted.

Congradulations! I knew you could do it. If you removed the distributor or plan to, I'd clean the 'bore' in the block and the distributor housing where it slides in the block good, and wipe both with a coat of light weight oil so it'll be easier next time you go to time it. Just make sure you mark the rotor location so it's close to being timed and engages the oil pump easier.

Re: Stuck

Hi,

Upon re-assembly, consider applying a tad bit of Never-Seize to the parts. I have patted myself MANY times on the back in later years for having taken a moment decades ago to put Never-Seize on stubborn or corrosion-prone parts.
