    Dispute over Buick brake shoes

Last week I bought a set of Bendix re-manufactured brake shoes for my 1942 Series 40 Special .
When they arrived in a well presented Bendix box they were 2 1/4" wide instead of 1 3/4"
I then checked again on the suppliers website and they had the same part No. for all Series in 1942 -1946

I am having trouble convincing them that there are 2 shoe widths even though I have given them the Buick part Nos
where do I go from here [The mailing to here in Australia cost $55]

Thanks , I have asked the company [ who are listed on this website] to pay for my shipping cost and I will sell the parts to recover the rest of my money.
I have mentioned to them that Bob's and Cars have the corrrect sizing , and now I can send that page

Sounds like a situation I had with a certain supplier located in New Jersey when I ordered brake drums for my '51 Super. They sent the wider Roadmaster drums. I called to point out their error, and they insisted they sent the right ones. This supplier has a reputation of never admitting to a mistake. Are you dealing with this New Jersey based supplier?

No this mob are in Texas, I took their on-line catalogue on face value and ordered the shoes for the Special, if I had checked the listing for the Super and Roadmaster I would have seen that they were all the smae part No. R97

Re: Dispute over Buick brake shoes

Just my two cents: I have always had great luck with Cars. Never a problem sending things back if there is an issue. There always seems to be some negative stuff said about them but my experience has been great. I've had some part issues along the way, but I've spent a least a couple of thousand with them over the past few years and have been happy. Bobs is good too.

I have learned that there's a lot of 'waste' when it comes to old cars. And some times it's just not worth the hassle fighting over $50 dollars. But that's me.

    Good luck!

My son who is restoring a 55 Chev Tpwnsman just told me the same thing , that Cars have a detailed listing of Buick parts, I found this mob by Googling and they seemed good, fast delivery etc, the only problem was the shoes were Roadmaster

From Bob's cataloge the 2.25 inch x 12 dia will fit 1940-51 Series 60 and 70 and some others. At worst you may be able to find someone in Aust with a Century who needs a 2.25 inch x 12 dia set. Very few of the large series car here in Aust as you know
