Re: Cadillac 6 blade fan for Buick Straight eights

Sorry about my counting ability. I am using the 5 blade 1950-52 Buick Roadmaster fan (non-A/C cars), which is pictured above.

The fan blade is very close to the rad, I would bet 5/8 inch or so. It almost touched the bottom of the upper tank of the rad. I used a 59 cad a/c 6 blade fan. I really like it and unless there is a buick expert looking under the hood and looking very close, no one will really knows that it is not stock.

Thanks Rusty, I must have the exact same fan as you--mine has 7 blades though...yours is 6? Grandpa, I looked for one of those Roadie fans but couldn't find one, so I went with the Caddy!

The 6 blade 59 Cadillac fan blade on my 53 Special 45R is under an a inch away from the radiator. The shape of the blades is very similar to the original 4 blade fan and is difficult to see that it is 6 blades. By the way, the seven blade Cadillac fan was used for limousines and possibly the Cadillac Series 75 commercial chassis ( for hearses and flower cars).

Hmmmmm. Looks like I have a limo fan. Seems to work well. I feel bad for my water pump bearing...that thing's probably twice the weight of the old one! Thanks for the reply, Joe.

Budd:
The six blade Buick fan you show looks identical to the 6 blade Cadillac fan I have. Does the job real well.
Thanks.

I wouldn't mention them if I had not used them and am satisfied they do what they advertise. I kinda like to mention those things I have used with success so others may also enjoy them even tho I have no interest in them.

I use a five blade flex fan from a 1970s Ford V8 engine on my 1955 Special.
They are 18" and have a 5/8" center hole and the bolt patern is the same as Buick. You can get them from Pick 'n Pull for a few bucks and they work great.
