Does the 62 Skylark with the 215 V8 have a positive ground or negative ground electrical system?
Negative ground. There is a line that goes directly from the battery (-) to the chassis and engine block. I have had three skylarks.
Negative
Thanks for the info. Just double checking for my brother. We were discussing installing a Pertronix ignition and coil and he thought his car had a positive ground. Has anyone installed the Pertronix ignition and coil? Any feedback?
I have had them installed in two of my cars, a '64 Riviera and a '65 Ford F150. So far the Ford has operated OK, but the Riviera failed me on a trip to MI (one cylinder quit)and I had the stock point system put back in the Rivi and I think I will leave it stock. One thing about a point system I like is it will give you a warning when something is wrong, but not quit and leave you stranded like an electronic system will do. Also while on a trip, if you have a problem, a lot of shops will know how to fix a point system, but will not have a clue on how to fix a Pertronix system.
