Will a 1955 dynaflow fit (and work correctly) in a 1950 super with original 263 straght eight?

I believe that the 1953 Special with Dyna Flow will work, and make a screamer out of your car.
This should be confirmed by someone else, as I only have heard it can be done. I don't think the 55 will work.![]()

Hollander interchange says that the 53 can be fitted to earlier models.

While looking for other trans information I went to the site for Wilcap Co. They list a transmission adapter for the late model GM automatics to the 263 straight 8. Doesn't say what to do about adapting to the torque tube driveline. If you may be interested in this swap, give them a call, they are nice helpful people. Wilcap Company Home Page

I have read that in 1955 Buick hadn't yet changed the bolt pattern on the bell housing and was still using the same torque tube driveline, could someone confirm this? if this is true wouldn't it in theory just bolt up?...Because My 50 dynaflow is shot..

Hi,
I don't believe any Dynaflow after the '53 Special will bolt in. In '53 the Special was a straight 8 and the Super and Roadmaster were V8s, and '54 and up all Buicks with the Dynaflow were V8s so the converter housing/ bellhousing will differ. The '55 had a 'kickdown' stator in the converter and had linkage up to the carburetor. The '55 bellhousing will bolt to a V8 engine back to the 53 Super and Roadmaster but not the Special straight 8. Any questions, e-mail me at littleeight@att.net. I've had both a '50
Super and a '55 Century which I rebuilt the Dynaflow on.
