Has anyone dismantled their clock?

I am trying to find the trick for removing the chrome adjuster on the front that seems to hold the front face plates to the clock mechanism.

I though the base of the adjuster was threaded on as it is keyed but have had no luck in getting it to rotate from the spindle underneath.
