    1950 Dynaflow/Torque Ball Seal - HELP

During restoration of my 1950 Super Sedanette I had the Dynaflow Auto rebuilt by an Auto Transmission specialist.
The car has been on the road for about 3 months and is now leaking ( badly ) transmission fluid from the torque ball area.
The rebuilder said the torque ball retainer looked okay when he rebuilt the box but suggested I get a new one seeing as how it is now leaking so bad!!!!!!!!
Apparently 1950 Dynaflow Torque Ball retainers are copper sprayed and don't have the vulcanised rubber seal of later models and consequently the seal is metal on metal.
Are reconditioned Torque Ball retainers available? is my problem something more simple? any suggestions/advice please.

The basic fact is...they LOVE to leak. My suggstion is to 1. read the shop manual carefully reguarding the torque ball adjustment so YOU understand it. 2. look for an outer retainer with the rubber vulcanized to it. (These are NOT currently be re-produced so you will have to find either a N.O.S. one or an used one and have it revulcanized by Steele Rubber)
I have been told (but have NOT verified) that you can replace your outer retainer with one used in the late 50's with the rubber seal vulcanized to it.
Hope this helps and hope someone else posts to help clarify things for both you and me.

    Re: 1950 Dynaflow/Torque Ball Seal - HELP

    Bill,
    Thanks for the response.

Can anyone confirm if the Torque Ball retainer with the vulcanised rubber seal as found on later Dynaflows ( 1955/56 ) be used on the 1950 Dynaflow?

Are there any modifications required or does it just bolt up ( replacing the old metal to metal seal )?

    Thanks
