1957 Rambler Rebel at local used car lot

This just showed up at a local used car & pickup truck lot. Anyone care to venture what it is worth? Then I'll tell you what they are asking for it. Car has no rust, nice original interior except for a bad dashboard pad, runs only if you pour fuel into the carburetor, needs new tires, paint and chrome are very nice. Automatic, 93,000 miles showing, PS, PB, radio, clock, 4-dr. hardtop with continental spare tire.

Re: 1957 Rambler Rebel at local used car lot

I'm no expert on anything from the fifties, but I'll take these Ramblers and Nashes anytime over the "see 'em everywhere" Chevies.

I'll go with $8K to $10K - because it's a Rebel and a hardtop. A nice clean Rambler 6 cyl should go for $3K to $4K, right?

OK, now tell me how far off I am.

Re: 1957 Rambler Rebel at local used car lot

The '57 Rebel is the rarest and most desireable of all the Nash Ramblers. I have seen restored ones break $20,000.

Ramblers from the 1951-1960 eras are hot and going up in value, when a lot of cars are not. I recently sold a rare 1960 4dr hardtop for high teens. Anytime you run across any year 4dr hardtop or 4dr hardtop station wagon over a 4dr sedan with a post you are talking about a 1 to 10 sales ratio when they were new. Any of the hardtops are rare. But the Rebel is tops. If you don't buy that one listed let me know I might be interested also.

Re: 1957 Rambler Rebel at local used car lot

AMC considered bringing out a revamped Metropolitan with a wagonlike roof that provided interior space for four people but engineers and product planners felt the limitations of the Met's 85-inch wheelbase were too great. They believed a 100-inch wheelbase was needed for the roominess that most buyers demanded.

Pete,

Is this the same Rebel that was in the April Hemmings? I am interested in buying the car but the link on Hemmings is now not active. Do you know where the car is and can give me some contact infromation?

Thanks

Want information about the 1957 Rebel. Is it still available and if so, what is the price?
You can reach me at 918-650-2363.
Thanks.

The car has been gone for a few months--probably sold--I do not know to whom.
