1955 pontiac 2 door wagon wheel paint color: carteret red?
Just bought a 55 pontiac 2 door wagon not a safari a 25 chiefton, and I have found the colors used (code 5573) the original colors were falcon gray (bottom), castle gray (top) and carteret red wheels which are used with the dog dish hubcaps. I am going to work on redoing the wheels and I am having a problem with the carteret red color. I am not sure of the actual color? does anyone know if carteret red is a bright red? or more a burgundy look. I can not find any color chips or the carteret red, and the car has tan wheels on it now which I do not believe are the originals or the car was delivered with another color than what is specked on the codes plate describes. (I have tried to scrape down to the original paint but no red color to be found). Does anyone know where I can get a color chip or a good description of this color? carteret red

Carteret red is not a 1955 Pontiac color. Your wheels should be painted either Falcon Gray or Castle gray depending on how the two tone is applied.
