Not to be picky, but you have an updraft carburetor on your car. The fuel must go UP into the cylinders instead of down.

Re: 1918 Oakland Update !!
Andy, Thank you so much for the 1918 Oakland engine specs.. Is the engine timing TDC ?? I'll adjust the valve lash tomorrow..
May I ask what the oiling procedure for the upper rocker arms is ?? I found two small spring loaded clips on each side.. Is this where the oil goes and how much ?? Thanx, Jim & Marilyn...

Re: 1918 Oakland Update !!
The timing markers are on the flywheel at the right side . The clips are for oiling the rocker arms. You should put a few drops of oil under the clips, before starting, and on top of the push rods and at the lifters , the oil I use is mixture of 15w40 and additive like stp. On the water pump, packing rope can be found at a plumbing store. Andy

Re: 1918 Oakland Update !!
Andy, Thank you so much for the info.. The valve lash at the valve stems were all set between 0.10 & 0.12 This is why I was really concerned about the correct settings.. I will heed your advice tomorrow regarding the oiling tips when I go to light the engine up.. How are the valve guides lubricated ?? Thanx again, Jim & Marilyn..
