FS: 1958 Cadillac - AACA winner, all original, fully sorted, needs nothing

Fellow AACA and CLC members,

It is with some hesitation that I am selling my wonderful 1958 Model 62 Sedan. I have owned this lovely car for around 4 ½ years. The car is a very rare 100% original survivor. It is in perfect running order with everything factory correct and functioning properly. Hundreds of hours and more than $15,000 have been spent fully sorting out EVERYTHING on this car. I would not hesitate to drive this car across the country. It previously has won a trophy in the AACA Eastern Nationals, in addition to trophies in some smaller shows. Last year it completed the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance road tour.

The car has the original rubbed lacquer finish of alpine white (roof) over versailles green (body). The original upholstery is in green venetian and green victoria cloth. The paint and interior are all original. The engine and transmission have never been out of the car and function perfectly. The trunk is original, with the jack in place. The chrome and grill are beautiful. The glass is all original and free from any cracks, chips, or delamination. The engine bay is very nice and clean. The car spent 46 years of its life in California and the rest in Florida, so there is ZERO rust. There have never been any accidents or body work. The car has been fastidiously maintained by its prior 2 owners and by me, with extensive documentation. Everything on the car works as intended (the clock is finicky) and is correct to the factory standards from when the car was manufactured. There are no leaks, smoking, or deferred maintenance or repairs pending.

The car drives wonderfully. It is tight and tracks straight down the road. The odometer is correct and reads approximately 83,500 original miles. I have driven it on long trips without pause. Everything on the car works as intended (clock is finicky but I have a spare that I am including). It has power seats and power antennae. It comes with the original owner’s manual and some other miscelleaneous books.

It's history:

In December 2004 we purchased this car in California from its second owner, a fellow Cadillac LaSalle club member, with only 80,000 fully documented miles. He purchased it in 1982 from the first owner, also in California, with only 69,000 miles. The car was originally purchased from the Cadillac dealer in Oakland, California in March of 1958. The selling dealer’s sticker is still in the glove box. The car remains completely original and unrestored. It is a smooth, quiet, and powerful driver.

I have spent a lot of money and time having it fully sorted and fastidiously maintained by a top restoration shop for American classics and a vintage Cadillac expert in my town. In the past few months the car underwent a full comprehensive service ($2000) and is ready to drive anywhere.

I also have some miscellaneous spare parts that will be included, including a clock and a NOS bolt of fabric from SMS that matches the interior.

I am asking $18,000 or best reasonable offer for an all original, fully sorted out, rust free car. The car is located in NE Florida and is available for the most discerning inspection.

Please – serious inquiries only: Mitchell 904-228-5800

Many have asked - when you compare this car to other 1958 Cadillacs on the market - I sincerely think that if you started with a different car, you would likely spend at least $15,000 for something else that would almost surely have some hidden rust, and certainly not be 100% original and factory correct. You would then likely have to spend 6 months and another $15,000 to fully sort it out mechanically to have as safe and reliable a car for driving. When you were done, it still wouldn't be as nice and sound as this car. Cars are only original once, and this car is in remarkable shape. It has been fully sorted out with no expenses spared to make sure everything works as intended

Car is on ebay right now. I'd much prefer to see it go to a fellow AACA or CLC member.
