I recently purchased a '41 Cadillac in restored stock all original appearance. I bought a new battery for it as the old one was about 9 yrs old. I noted that the battery was hooked up with a Negative ground. Is this right for a '41?? Would the car function if it were reversed from what it should be? My research shows '46 to be the first year for a neg. ground on Cadillac.

Jim again. Embarrassing, but I rechecked the battery wires and the car does have a positive ground as it should.

Cadillac went to negative ground in '42.

My '42 Linclon was a POS ground. I bought a 8v POS Ground Battery for my 6 volt system. It worked GREAT!

Would Jim benefit with a 8volt Battery instead of the 6 volt?

I had a Merc Flathead V8 in my LC. i say "had" because Unemployment forced me to sell it at the RM auction in 2007.
