purchasing a 36-38 Dodge truck
I'm just starting to research, and most posts I see on here are people looking for parts for their trucks.
Where can I find some information on what to look for in buying one of these? Restoring one of these? Problem areas with this style of truck?
Thanks,
Darcy

Are you looking for one? I have a lead or two on some in my area of southern Oregon.
1931 Dodge Brothers DH6 business coupe w/ wire wheels
1931 Dodge Brothers DH6 business coupe w/ wood wheels (my 1st car and still have it)
1967 Dodge A100 V8 compact pickup
and visions of my past old cars

Re: purchasing a 36-38 Dodge truck
I am, but I'm up in Alberta, Canada. I've got a lead on a 1 ton, with an extra cab. I'm thinking of the possibility of building one with a flat deck to haul my 1948 Willys Jeep around.

Re: purchasing a 36-38 Dodge truck
Anyone know if the Dodge and Plymouth parts interchange at all? I'm in dire need of 2 window regulators for my 38 Plymouth Pickup.
dunl did you ever purchase the 1 ton Dodge with extra cab? Any chance of spare window regulators!

Rance i think you will find that most parts , apart from some mouldings etc will interchange between the Dodge, Plymouth ,and in Canada the DeSoto and Fargo pick ups with the exceptions of the engines , i think that the Canadian models used the long block engine

Thanks Elmo for the tip. Might come in handy in the future.
I did manage to find the regulators I was looking for.

Re: purchasing a 36-38 Dodge truck
Rance,
The 1937 and 1938 Dodge MC and MD (1/2 and 3/4 ton) pickups used the 25" block which was the same size as the Canadian models. The 1937-38 Plymouth pickups used the shorter 23" block. In 1939 the Dodge 1/2 ton pickups went back to the 23" block. Since my 1937 had the 25" block (rated 218 cubic inches). I was able to drop a newer 265 cubic inch L6 in with only minor changes. Had to switch drive shaft to 8 bolt instead of 4 bolts and drill extra holes for the flywheel.
Also.... I need the front windshield crank mechansim off of a 1937-38 Plymouth or Dodge truck. It has the number "265" cast on the right front side.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions on your project.

I'll keep an eye and ear open for a crank mechanism.
Thats one nice looking truck you've got there!
