Please help before I buy
1934 pickup it is said it is all there and last ran 6 years ago. It has never been apart so I assume rust will be hidden in the seams, even though the seller says it is only serface rust.
Have always wanted one but what can they be worth if no parts are avaibile?
Where do they rust? For exhample 35-41 Fords the lower rockers and frame at the intersection of rails and X member. Early Chevy's at the body overlaps. Dodges?
The seller wants what I think is alot around 10,000.
Thanks for any help .......... Jim

Re: Please help before I buy
My Old Car Price Guide gives the value of a 1934 Dodge pickup as $680 (#6 parts car) to $17,000 (#1 perfect show winning restoration).
$10,000 should get you a #2 which is practically perfect, with only a few little flaws apparent under the closest inspection, just enough to stop it being a #1.
At best the truck you describe might be a "restorable" #5 worth $2080.
Price guide prices tend to be on the high side by the way.
The questions you ask suggest you may be new to this type of vehicle.
I suggest you look for a better one. Parts are available for cars that old, in most cases. But the cost of fixing one up is way more expensive than just buying a good one.
Would also suggest you make friends with some old car hobbyists in your area, join a club, and ask a more experienced friend to look at the next vehicle you consider for purchase.

Re: Please help before I buy
Thanks for your help. I like your guide's pricing. Does'nt seam to be current. I make one car or truck per year( mostly old Fords out of friends left overs ).I just sold my other daily driver 34 Ford pickup for 23000.00 no where neer a show car. I think, buy in vehicals have gone way up. I love the look of the 33-35 Dodge truck and just thought aswith any car they all have some thing to watch out for.
I like your idea of meeting more people in the just restore don't hot rod end.........Thanks again for your help....Jim

Re: Please help before I buy
It's an April 2008 edition.
If you fix up a 34 Dodge and expect to get the same money for it as you would a 34 Ford, you are in for a shock.
