1905-1906 Marmon question
Does anyone have a good quality picture from a brochure, ad, or factory sketch of the 1905-06 Marmon three point floating chassis?
And can tell me why they discontinued it for a more traditional one? Did it fail or just not well received?
Thanks!

Re: 1905-1906 Marmon question
There are some pictures of the setup in The Marmon Heritage if you have one to look at. They patented the setup so if you went and looked up the patent there would probably be some pretty good plans. It worked well and gave rise to "The easiest riding car" advertising line. I think it was just a bit to complicated, costly and didn't seem to help sell the car for it to be kept. Roads were also starting to improve a little bit. The system was actually used on a couple of other vehicles. Have you tried the library?

Most old journals in our area have been tossed years ago. I wondered about how safe, wear resistant, or strong that front pivot was? I found the patent a while back but was looking for a nice photo of the chassis as shown in some of their ads - the 3/4 top view from the rear, to possibly put in our book.

Re: 1905-1906 Marmon question
The Marmon Heritage is not a journal, it is a comprehensive book about Marmons. Your best bet would be to contact the AACA library to get some good copies that you could use in a book. I would also ask for other stuff as they have everything that would be available. A scanned copy wouldn't do you very much good. I would ask for pages 56 to 59. Good luck.

Thanks for the lead. As long as the scans are between 300-600dpi then I should be able to have them printed out as regular photographs or added to a pdf to send to the publisher.
