In what substance and for how long should the diaphram in an AC fuel pump for l953 Chrysler Windsor rebuild kit be soaked before reassembly? Thanks

Re: fuel pump rebuild

It shouldn't be soaked in anything. If it is dried up or shrunk up throw it away and buy a new one.

Old fuel pump kits aren't much good. Not only are they dried out, today's fuel attacks them and rots them out because of the alcohol and other additives.

You need to get a fresh newly made kit.

Re: fuel pump rebuild

Check with Tom Hannaford, Antique Auto Parts Cellar. He makes the fuel pump kits, they are excellent and work well with today's fuels. He will need the stamped number on the mounting flange of the fuel pump.
