27chrysler hydralic brakes
Looking for advice on 27 Chrysler brakes. I have had the wheel cylinders and master cylinder sleeved and rebuild, also new brake bands, but I cannot get any pressure out of master cylinder. I have blead everything using the plunger on the reservior 3 times. Pretty sure I don't have any air in the lines. My brake pedal goes to the floor with very little resistance. I don't have any leaks anywhere. I'm thinking 3 possibilities, Bad job on the master cyl, bad seal on the plunger on the resorvior, or still have air in the lines. Does anyone have any advice before I start dismantling again.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, JGG

Re: 27chrysler hydralic brakes
Hi JGG,
I would clamp off the front & rear brake hoses and see if you get a pedal. If you do this would show that there is air in the wheel cylinders or lines after the hoses or the brake shoes are not adjusted enough. The pedal movement is all lost pushing the shoes against the drums.
You could try and seal off the master cylinder at the output pipe (may not be that easy to do ?) in which case you should get very little movement on the pedal. If the pedal goes to the floor then your master cylinder is the issue. I would check that the main seal uncovers the tiny compensating port when the brakes are off. Check the cylinder is returning to the fully off position and not being slightly depressed by the pedal adjustment being wrong.
Hope that gives you somewhere to start.
Yours
John F

Re: 27chrysler hydralic brakes
OK, Brakes work, I reblead them again and tightened up the adjustments on all 4 wheels. I know have brakes, not very good, but we made the maiden trip about 4 miles. Overheated some, and found out the clutch is slipping quite a bit. The thermostat was origional and stuck, so that has been replaced, but My next challange is the clutch, any sugestions on where to find parts???
Thanks for the advice, JGG

Just a note...always ADJUST before bleeding the brakes. Your local parts store may be able to find a match for the clutch release bearing.
