1950 Chrysler Windsor Newport

Hi
There is a 1950 Chrysler Windsor Newport currently up for auction on Ebay. It is a fairly rare car as this was the only Windsor available with this type of rear window. It was also available on the New Yorker and the Imperial sedan. It is little money and looks like a good restoration project, to save a rare car.

Re: 1950 Chrysler Windsor Newport

The 1950 Newports (Windsor and New Yorker) had a 3-piece back window. It was shared with the 1950-52 DeSoto Sportsman hardtops, 1950-52 Dodge Diplomat hardtops, and the 1951-52 Chrysler Newport hardtops.

The 1950 Imperial had a 3-piece back window (but not the New Yorker), however I do not believe the glass is the same size. All 1951-52 Chrysler sedans used the 1950 Imperial back window.

so the Windsor i have up for sale on e-bay is a newport since it has the three way split rear window? I don't know much about it as it is a friend's car and he's less automobile savvy than i. Can you tell me anymore about the car than what is posted on e-bay?

It is a Newport because it is a 2-door hardtop. All Chrysler Corporation 2-door hardtops from 1950 to 1953 used a 3-piece rear window. It was actually quite common in the early 1950's.

Re: 1950 Chrysler Windsor Newport

Hi,
The car you have up for sale is a Windsor 4 dr sedan. All of the Chrysler line had the 3 piece window in the back. The ONLY 4 dr sedan that had the Newport window was the Imperial 6 pass sedan. This is what set it apart from the New Yorker and Saratogas. The other cars that had the Newport window was the 2 Dr. Windsor and the 2 Dr New Yorker. The car you have for sale was the most popular for the model year. There were 78,199 produced. It cost $2349 and weighed 3765 pounds. I hope this helps you.
