1930 Chrysler V70 Leaf Spring Rubber Mounts
Has anyone replaced the front and rear leaf spring rubber cushion mounts on a 1930 Chrys 70 Roadster??
I was wondering whats involved in doing it as it's rather expensive for the rubber parts (Steele Rubber has a replacement set for approx $600.00)
Any info greatly appreciated
Thanks
John

Re: 1930 Chrysler V70 Leaf Spring Rubber Mounts
They didn't just bolt in, I had to grind them to fit. If you try to clamp them in too tight, you'll crack the castings. I fit the rears and the restoration shop did the front. I still have enough for my second car. Not looking forward to it. I wonder if you could spray a release agent in the cavity and then use expanding foam to make a pattern??

Thanks Tim for the info
I assume you need to remove the entire spring assy, or can you fit them one end at a time??

Re: 1930 Chrysler V70 Leaf Spring Rubber Mounts
I had to jack the car up and then remove the spring, there is pressure even after the car is raised. I found it tricky, but can be done if you don't get in a rush and think things thru. I have the rear axle out of my '30 brougham and will have to do this myself soon. Right now I'm getting our coupe back together so I can start it! It has to go back to the upholster shop and it is heavy going up the trailer ramp!
