    Re: Hello from New Mexico

Welcome to the site! Very nice car, but then I am partial to '31 Dodges. Looks like a late 1931 by the three hinges on the front doors. Are you looking for parts? I see a few things you need. John

Thank you for your kind words. I am looking for a tail light stand. I will have to cast a lense. The one I have has Dodge cast into the lense.

I see you have a truck lens and bezel on your taillight. Your light bezel and lens should look like this and there are some on ebay a lot.

Does a '31 tailight bucket, lens and stand look like the 32's oval shape? Or is it a round tailight?

I have no idea. I started with the stand only and I have been told that my taillite is a truck type. I adapted a old trailer light and the lens fit.

Your setup for '31 is not like '32. 1931 is round with the "beehive" lens that I showed. Some were upgraded to chrome buckets.

For the benefit of those who do not own a '32, the taillight and stanchion looks like this...

    Re: Hello from New Mexico

Hunh...Those 32 photos just alerted me to yet another variation. It appears that the 32s (at least the DLs) came with at least two different tailight stanchions: long and short. My early DL has the same long version shown on that black one with the white sidewalls in the previous post, but my later production gray DL has a shorter one (same design styling) as shown in my photo below.

    And, no...it didn't get squished in a rear-ender!

I have seen both lengths in 1932 also. It could be that they used the longer one with a rear trunk/rack or it could be that they "just changed" mid-year.

Maybe they shortened them due to FDR's GDMCSI (Great Depression Material Cost-Saving Initiative)?

1937 was the first two-taillamp standard DB.

    Re: Hello from New Mexico

For what it's worth, the right side taillight was still available only as an option for the 1932 DK8...at least the coupes, anyways.

    Re: Hello from New Mexico

I think most makers had an optional right side tail lamp. I have seen an awful lot of them added and to tell you the truth, I have been thinking of adding one to my '31 just to give someone else better visibility of me.

    Re: Hello from New Mexico

Oh that is yours well than no definately not, here is a picture of mine. I went into great lengths a few years back studying these brackets and collecting data/part #s. I am having a really hard time at this point to remember what I came up with and even after looking thru my old notes/e-mails I cant remember the specific details but I do remember that one bracket has the cutout for the split rear bumper and there is also a version which does not. I was lucky enough to find the correct bracket that does not have the cutout a few years ago but since then and before then have never seen another for sale.

A little off the subject, but where did you find the large Dodge Brothers sign on your wall?

Those signs are new and can be found under "Dodge Brothers" on ebay. Item number:350255165604. There are usually slightly different versions at odd times.
