1926 Dodge coupe frame number
Thanks to Dodger Dave, I found numbers stamped on the frame of my 1926 Dodge coupe. Now I am getting input that the number is not complete. I found A12-341 stamped on the right side of the frame and on the top of the frame. Is this a valid number for a 1926 Dodge Coupe? Does anyone know a resource where I can trace proper numbers?
Thanks in advance for any information.

Re: 1926 Dodge coupe frame number
ok, that looks more like a part number my appologies,
you should lift the floorboard and inspect the cross-
member for you frame number. In 1926 the #'s ran A372475
through A702242. In 1927 the #'s are located in the
same area and ran A702243 through A875379. Your frame
number should fall between either set of numbers and will
determine the proper year so you can proceed with your
project. Again sorry for the misinformation.

Re: 1926 Dodge coupe frame number
26Dodgeowner,
I have followed your query and have a question. You have purchased what was purported to be a '26. Is there a possibility that this is in fact a '24? The serial number of A12-341 would have been built in Jan '24. Unfortunately many of the corroborating specifics are not present such as engine details and engine number. Look carefully at the serial number stamped into the right side frame presumably where you found this A12-341 is there any possibility of an additional digit between the A- and the other numbers? There will be a stamped hyphen between the front digits and the last three so will not be any additional digits following. Let us know what you find.

Re: 1926 Dodge coupe frame number
Thanks again to Dodger Dave and Roger "Dodger" Hartley!!! I have searched out a local Mopar "historian" who verified the numbers on the top and side of my frame as A12-341. He has copies of several old reference books and has identified it as a 1924 also. The number is stamped on both the top of the frame and on the side. The top number is worn more than the side number, but I am sure there is no other number around the "dash" other than what I can see. Spaces are "uniform" between the letter/numbers and dash.
Boy am I confused!
Any other ideas?

Re: 1926 Dodge coupe frame number
26Dodgeowner,
No problem. The only thing is you may need to change your name to 24Dodgeowner, and start looking for a '24 engine/tranny instead of a '26.
Have fun whatever the case.

Re: 1926 Dodge coupe frame number
My thanks again to Roger "Dodger" Hartley and Dodger Dave for helping me with my identity problem <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/image...ins/smile.gif" alt="" />! I guess I need to find a "26" now to go with my "24". Seems easier than changing my name. Again, thanks for this forum, I'm sure I'll be posting more questions in the future.
