    Olds 307 V8 History...

    Hello Everyone:

I'm curious about the history of the Olds 307 V8. When was it first available? Was it a 'debored' and/or 'destroked' Olds 350?

Although it doesn't make much power, it's been a VERY reliable engine in my '84 Toronado (183,000 miles) so I'm interested in knowing about it's history.

    Thanks,

    Paul

The 307 is a "debored" 350. Stroke is the same (in fact ALL Olds small blocks, from the 260 to the 403 use the same stroke, only the bore is changed). The 307 was first used in 1981 (possibly late 1980). Except for Canadian cars, most 307s came with the electronic Qjet fuel system.
