| Re: 55 Starfire cowl tag U1 is the option code for the electric vertical seat adjuster. The electric horizontal adjuster was standard on the Starfire and the Deluxe Holiday coupe, so the U1 option made it a 4-way power seat. Other models would have had the U2 4-way power seat option.
Trim 355 is the all red leather interior.
Must be this car:
It has the 4 way electric seat and all red interior.

| Re: 55 Starfire cowl tag Your right Paul, it is this car. After looking over this car closer I have decided to keep it. I'm in the process of having the brakes fixed. Had the power brake booster/master cylinder and the brakes cylinders re-sleeved, and all new lines. This will be done Tuesday. Than I ought to be on the road. Bought new rocker moldings, fender scripts, and rear trunk script. Had the generator rebuilt. This is turning out to be a great car.
Thanks for all your help Paul and Gary
Any thoughts on making the top work? The pump runs, maybe just new lines!!

| Re: 55 Starfire cowl tag Paul and Gary, I would be in the market for a good set of original spinner hub caps. Not after market. Not sure how to tell the difference. Did olds have the wire wheel hub caps like the Pontiac did in 53. I have three sets of them!

| Re: 55 Starfire cowl tag Olds had "Mimetic" wire wheel covers that they used in '53 and '54. They will fit a '55, and I've seen '55s with them, but according to period literature and parts books, they weren't an official option in '55. I've seen them used as far back as '50. I had a set on a '52. They are the same as the Cadillac wire wheel covers of the era, but with different centers. They show up on eBay periodically, as do the Fiesta spinners. I don't know how to tell an original Fiesta cap from an repro.

| Re: 55 Starfire cowl tag hi greg, you have three sets of 1953 pontiac wire wheelcovers ????, boy are you sitting on a gold mine. pontiac used those wheel covers from 53 to 56, changing the center emblem or cap every year. i have a 1953 pontiac chieftain custom catalina that i've owned for 36 years now, and i'm using 6 1953 olds wire wheel covers on my catalina, modifing the center cap so that it has the 53 pontiac rear fender indian chief emblem instead of the olds creast. i have a set of olds fiesta spinners, two of them have a bullit type chrome cone where the olds emblem would be. that the way i got them. let me know if you're interested in them. charlie |

| Re: 55 Starfire cowl tag Greg, I purchased a repro set of Fiesta spinners from USA parts supply over a year ago and I can't tell any difference from the originals. They are beautiful and fit just as snug as the originals. I believe they sold out but Fusick's website say's they will be available soon. I'd give them a call if interested, Gary |

Thanks for the info Gary. Are the original spinner bars held on with tabs or screws?
All the best

| Re: 55 Starfire cowl tag The ones that came with my car are attached by screws, not sure if they are original. The repros are also attached by screws. |

| Re: 55 Starfire cowl tag Gary, is 9,149 produced just the 98 convertible only? The Regal maroon is there a formula out there for it? Have the car on the road and it runs great. Better than brass cars
