1968 F-85 W-31 ??? maybe?

Can anyone tell me a way to authenticate a true 1961 F-85 W-31? I recently bought a 69 F-85 2 door post that I had to pull out of the weeds. It had been setting there since 1986. The car was a floor shift manual, non air, manual breaks, power steering, with buckets but the motor and tranny are both missing. When I got the car home and started looking at it, I found 2 4" hole in the inner fenders, an OEM looking chrome air cleaner lid in the trunk, a 4 core radiator, a rear sway bar. I also noticed the this car has the raised Cutlass/442 hood not the flat CS hood, The rest of the front clip appears to be correct for the f-85. (no chrome on the fender edge) It looks like the rear diff has been swapped with a 10 bolt chevy. I have tracked down two previous owners back to 1984 and the trail went dead. The owner from 1984 said he bought the car without a motor, and he bought it from a guy that lives in a town about 20 mile away from the local drag strip. It make me wonder! If you know anything about the 1969 W-31 or f-85s please let me know.
