1957 Olds 88 Gauge cluster removal

So a local junkyard has a 57 88 4 door that is pretty rotten all over, but the speedo and trim around it are in surprisingly good shape and I want to save them. The guy said he'll sell it to me for $25, but I have no idea how to get it out of the dash...HELP!

Well it sure won't come out by working on it from the front.

Hopefully you are skinny and don't mind laying on your back and working with your hands up in the air in confined spaces as you use your 1/4 inch drive socket set to loosen the retaining nuts that hold these pieces from falling out on the floor where your feet should be.

That's kinda what I figured and was afraid of. Going to be rough to get under the dash of it, it's pretty nasty...lol. Might go back on Saturday and try to get it, but I think it is line for the crusher and may not be there then.

I always take a hand held bathroom/vanity mirror and a good, bright flashlight so I don't have to become a pretzel to get them out. Shine the light into the mirror and reflect the light where you want to look. You can also check for spiders and other creepy crawlers that way. Oh...you can also use that "air in a spray can" to blow pests out from behind stuff.
