'72 Regency olds '98 - Anniversary Edition
Hey all....hoping someone can help.
I've recently inherited a '72 Regency Olds '98 75th Anniversary Edition (Tiffany Interior)
As sad as it is, I must let her go. She is living in Utah, I in Wyoming and I have no place to store her.
The property where she stays is about to be sold...
She is in pretty decent condition as far as I can tell (nicer than any others I can find)
Has about 47k original miles and was stored inside her whole life up until May of this year when I lost the garage she was kept in.
All interior (Tiffany Velour) is in excellent condition, with all original effects that came with her (Tiffany Key Chain, Ruby Oldsmobile Key, and Gold users manual.
Still has the gold Oldsmobile paint and everything else original except the white wall tires.
Body condition is good, with one small ding in the back door.
It seems these are pretty hard to find now a days...and this one still runs! Just needs a new battery.
I'm wondering what she's worth and how to go about selling her, before the property she's living on is sold.
ANY help is greatly appreciated.
Please email laura_p_hunter@yahoo.com
I have more pics if you want to see them =)
Thanks again.

Re: '72 Regency olds '98 - Anniversary Edition
Oh mercy, if I didn't already have too many cars...
This one looks like it has gold interior. I've seen only a few with it, most had black paired with a black vinyl roof.
Laura, it is an interesting car and not common. Unfortunately the Olds collector market right now is skewed toward the musclecars, and I've seen some really nice big cars go wanting because of that. Not the way I'd like it to be, but. My biggest fear is that a car like this will get bought simply to raid its 455 and then scrapped, or worse, donked out with wagon wheel rims.
Value? I really don't know what to say, but try to price it 1) high enough so the aforementioned buzzards won't get it and desecrate it but 2) not so high that you can't sell it.
If you can afford it, spend a couple hundred dollars and have it professionally detailed. That will help sell a car like this.
How much time do you have before you HAVE to dispose of it?

Spot on, Glenn. Some knuckle-dragging yokel would be up to his ankles in drool thinking about how to ruin that car.
Any idea on the production numbers? I tried looking it up in Casteele's book, but there's no breakdown for the Regency. Perhaps in Helen Early's book?
Laura, check your email. I'd enjoy seeing some more photos of the car. Reminds me a bit of the '72 Delta 88 I learned to drive on, except my dad would never have sprung for a Regency back in '72.

Re: '72 Regency olds '98 - Anniversary Edition
Production was to be limited to 5,000 according to the sales literature. Not sure if it actually made that.
A 1972 Regency is the one to have simply because of the 75th Anniversary theme and its exclusivity. A triple gold one is icing on the cake. Regency sales exploded after 1974 and while nice, they weren't near as posh as the 72, and the Tiffany connection was dropped after 1973.

Re: '72 Regency olds '98 - Anniversary Edition
Production was finished for these just below 2600.
Here is a link to more photos if anyone would care to see them.

She's still quite beautiful for her age, and the miles pretty low.
