Another GM Olds Sold!

GM's 1920 Model 37 Sedan sold yesterday at Barrett for $33,000. Professional ground up restoration...I pray an OCA or NAOC member got the car!

When are they going to sell Mighty Whitey? It seems like everything may be for sale soon.

Re: Another GM Olds Sold!

They SAY that not much else is going to go but in these times nothing can be trusted. The 1912 Defender I bought for them and helped repair is now gone and in another country. Sad............

Re: Another GM Olds Sold!

That was a nice car, to bad it went so cheap. I would have loved to own that one.

It is a shame that they let it get this far. If they would have not got into Hummer, Saab ans other crap they may be ok.

Re: Another GM Olds Sold!

Steve,

I think we ought to buy all the rights to Oldsmobile from GM and re-start production. We would probably sell more cars than all of GM!

Re: Another GM Olds Sold!

Well save your money as the naming rights to Olds are a part of the 1800 pages of assets that GM turned over to the government!

Good grief, what a terrible idea. GM had pretty much made a mess of Oldsmobile the last five years it was produced I can only imagine what an abortion any car built by the government would be like. Aside from that the government would find a way for it run $100,000 a unit to produce a $25,000 car.

Re: Another GM Olds Sold!

Hopefully they'll keep the black 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire Coupe that is part of the GM Heritage Collection. Although it wasn't nearly as nice as it is now, I once owned that car (believe it or not, had the title signed over to me on December 12, 2000--the very day General Motors announced it was discontinuing the Oldsmobile marque). Had the car for a couple of years, when the great folks at the Heritage Collection apparently saw the potential in the restoration, and brought it back to its former glory. Nice to know I had a small part in the chain of events that eventually led to the car being part of the Collection, and also get a good feeling knowing that I can drive and enjoy the black '62 Starfire Coupe I've owned for 13 years, while there is a great example of basically the same exact car for people to see and enjoy for posterity. More important, I've gotten to know two great guys as a result, in Richard Balsley and Greg Mull, who were chief in the acquisition and restoration of the car. One of the most exciting things that has happened to me in the years I've been involved in the old car hobby. My car has the maroon year-of-issue Ohio License Plate on it (on the left, or to my right in the picture); the GM Heritage car has the white Michigan YOI plate on it (on the right, or to my left in the picture).
